Yinka: ATC widens my skillset

One of the primary reasons I prefer the contracting lifestyle is the flexibility. As a contractor, I can choose the projects and clients I work with, allowing me to pursue areas of expertise that align with my professional interests and personal aspirations. This autonomy gives me control over my schedule, work location, and even the duration of my engagements. Managing my time and commitments according to my preferences has significantly enhanced my work-life integration, providing a work-life balance and reducing stress levels.
Furthermore, contracting offers unparalleled exposure to various industries, organizations, and projects. This exposure has broadened my skill set and knowledge base as a Chartered Accountant. Each contract presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities, allowing me to continuously develop my expertise in various areas such as financial and management accounting, statutory financial reporting, IFRS and regulatory reporting. This diversity of experiences has enriched my professional profile and made me adaptable, resilient, and able to navigate complex business environments.

Throughout my engagement at Grant Thornton, I have successfully undertaken various projects. These encompassed multiple areas such as group consolidation and restructuring accounting, generating financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and international GAAP. Additionally, I have successfully handled FCA regulatory returns, streamlined accounting processes and reconciled intricate historical accounting discrepancies.

Contracting through Grant Thornton offers abundant opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth. Working on diverse projects and with various clients exposes me to different business models, systems, and processes. This constant exposure to new challenges keeps me engaged and motivated, fostering ongoing skill development and expanding my professional network.

Contracting with Grant Thornton is competitive and financially rewarding; I have been able to spend more time with my young family due to the flexibility offered. I have also pursued my passion which is supporting charities in Africa while maintaining a successful contracting career.

I highly recommend the Agile talent community to anyone considering contracting. It is a unique opportunity to take control of one's career, explore diverse projects, foster professional growth, build a strong network, and cultivate valuable skills. It offers the freedom and flexibility to pursue your passions, ac
