While it has internal audit services at its core, as one of the UK’s top 3 providers of internal audit and assurance services Grant Thornton’s Business Risk Services practice is growing our well-established capability in several specialist, expert-led services. This growth plan includes our Major Project, Programme and Portfolio Assurance service line.

In the UK, Business Risk Services currently has over 350 in-house audit and assurance specialists and access to the support of over 4000 experts in very specific, diverse areas such as forensics, financial modelling, mergers and acquisitions and ethics.

A look into the role


As an Asset and Infrastructure Assurance Senior Manager within our Business Risk Services practice, you will:

  • Support, and deputise for when required, the Head of our Major Project, Programme and Portfolio Assurance service line
  • Play an important part an ambitious five year growth plan for the service line, our Business Risk Services practice and the firm as a whole
  • Build on the experience that you can bring from sectors such as infrastructure, design and construction, energy, environment, business systems or business change and transformation, by shaping and delivering high quality, insightful project and programme assurance outcomes in sectors ranging from defence and nuclear to retail and hospitality.
  • Contribute to the operational management of our Business Risk Services practice

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as an Asset and Infrastructure Assurance Senior Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is qualification to at least degree level, Full or Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (eg APM, RICS, ICE, CIIA) with experience at that level, demonstrable experience of delivering formal project and programme assurance activities, and to be confident managing a portfolio of clients. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • Able to project confidence and credibility, supported by substantial professional experience
  • Excellent communication skills, in particular the ability to gather and interpret verbal evidence taken in interviews and deliver concise and insightful outcomes to clients and stakeholders at very senior level
  • Proven experience of developing and securing new business
  • Experience of delivering maturity assessments (for example P3M3)
  • Accreditation as an Infrastructure and Projects Authority Review Team Member or Review Team Leader
