Corporate Tax Assistant Manager / Manager (in-house)

The role sits within the Grant Thornton’s Finance function, as part of the tax, treasury and partner accounts team. The team is collectively responsible for the management of the firm’s tax and treasury risks, as well as providing the individual partners of the firm with tax and finance support.
Grant Thornton UK has an increasingly international presence, with international growth opportunities a key pillar of the Firm’s strategy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage the firm’s direct tax obligations – both domestic and international, with support from a wide range of in-house and external specialists.

A look into the role
As a Tax Assistant Manager / Manager within the Tax, Treasury and Partner Accounts team, you will:
Manage the firm’s approach to international tax matters including CBCR, Pillar 2 and the retention of relevant transfer pricing documentation.
Support with all ongoing corporate tax matters within the Group. This includes compliance with UK and international requirements as well as ad hoc advisory projects.
Provide support around the Group’s tax risk management and governance, including SAO compliance and the publication of tax strategy.
Interaction with senior stakeholders in the UK firm, as well as overseas subsidiaries and joint ventures. Develop relationships with HMRC as well as internal and external advisors.
Help to establish a best in class reporting system for the maintenance of all supporting documentation.
Work collaboratively with the wider finance function and gain experience of working in a broader industry role.
Gain experience of working in a wider tax team which has responsibility of indirect taxes and partnership / personal tax considerations.
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a Tax Assistant Manager / Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (in accounting or tax) with post qualification experience, an ability to assess and manager areas of tax risk, and the flexibility to deal with a variety of routine and ad hoc tax matters. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.
A solid understanding of UK corporate tax rules.
Experience of managing cross border tax risks for multinational businesses.
An understanding of the key governance requirements of a large business.
An eagerness to learn and develop skills relevant across a broad ranging tax role.
