Our London Corporate Tax team is looking for an Assistant Manager. You will join our growing team and facilitate the continued growth of the corporate and international tax practice in London with a particular focus on our UK and international media clients. You will seek out opportunities to develop and grow the portfolio of business, establish strong relationships with clients and across the firm and contribute to domestic and cross border tax assignments.

The team helps clients to navigate the increasingly complex tax landscape by providing tailored solutions to manage risks today and stay ahead of future changes. The team works to provide domestic and global advice for strategic decisions to ensure that tax obligations are monitored and managed.

The role of Assistant Manager presents solutions to increasingly complex technical issue and good interpersonal skills to be able to proactively assist clients in responding to a rapidly changing sector and can manage a team in demanding assignments on a day-to-day basis.

A look into the role

As an Assistant Manager within our Large Corporates Tax, you will:

  • You’ll be managing a portfolio of clients consisting of owner-managed businesses, private equity backed and large, listed and multinational groups, supporting them on their corporation tax affairs. In addition to the annual corporation tax work you will also be working on tax advisory projects including project financing and transactions / M&A tax, group reorganisations, and international tax. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in business development across sectors.
  • Your home team will be within the London Corporate Tax team (a team of 70 people) where you will support Partners, Directors, Associate Directors and Managers in advising clients. There will be opportunity to delegate work and be responsible for training and developing junior members of the team.
  • You’ll be a key part of delivering corporate tax compliance services, audit of tax and tax advisory for our clients. You will manage your own portfolio of clients, liaising with other Tax and Audit colleagues where necessary – becoming the main point of contact for clients in your portfolio.
  • You will be responsible for organising the delivery of tax work and problem solving on a daily basis. By becoming the key point of contact for your clients, you will have the opportunity to build your internal and external network – giving you the opportunity to build your communication skills and collaborate with others. You will be commercially minded and have a clear perception of client requirements.  

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA) with post qualification experience, and to be confident managing a large portfolio of tax clients. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • Strong, up to date, knowledge of UK corporation tax legislation and international tax concepts
  • Experience in reviewing work and supervising staff in a tax environment
  • Evidence of managing corporation tax compliance portfolios and tax accounting / audit of tax
  • Excellent communication skills in supporting the team grow and deliver on key client accounts
  • Be commercially minded and have a clear perception of clients’ requirements
  • Be flexible in order to juggle client commitments and meet deadlines
